Biography
East Anglian born and raised singer-songwriter Jess Morgan makes folk and roots music that is inspired by both British and Celtic folk and Americana.
Jess’s first full length album ‘All Swell’ was released April 2010 on Jess's own label, Amateur Boxer Records. The record was made in Norway last year where Jess mixed recording with touring in order to fund the record.
Jess has a distinct voice and style and an approach to song-writing that is extremely evocative and much of her repertoire involves plots and characters anchored in real places and times. Infamous songwriter, Nicky Chinn is a fan. Jess has also been championed by DJ Steve Lamacq and last year earned her a place on tour with Ben Taylor and support slots for touring acts: Teddy Thompson, Eve Sellis, Eileen Rose, Megson, Rod Picott and Amanda Shires and more...
Jess is just back a three-week coffee-house tour of New England including gigs in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Cape Cod, Rhode Island, New York and New Jersey. This included performances in the singer-songwriter Mecca that is New York's Greenwich Village - with gigs at The Bitter End, Cafe Vivaldi and more.
Jess has a solid string of tourdates over the Summer months including spots at Leicestershire Big Session festival, Beverley Folk Festival, Crawley Folk Festival, Wymondham Arts Festival and gigs in some corners of East Anglia Jess has never been to before.
